Apple has recently received a UN award for using 100% renewable energy and its efforts in solving climate change. Lisa Jackson, VP of environmental, social and policy initiatives has explained how the company has helped its suppliers transition to green energy.
Jackson mentions that Apple’s goal is for its suppliers to gain access to the same kind of clean, high-quality energy that they do. For instance, Apple has just announced that they’re planning to add three wind farms as part of its China Clean Energy program.
The program also helps with regulatory requirements, such as setting up a web portal where suppliers can get access to trusted information on how they can start producing clean energy the right way.
The Apple VP also says that the transition to clean energy should make sense in a financial manner. The goal is to do it in a way that there’s zero loss.
