The number of submissions researchers make for security vulnerabilities has been limited by Apple for their program called the bug bounty due to fake AI bugs that were made by AI, calling it AI slop.
The system for bug review was looking at high quantities of submissions that are of poor quality from bug hunters who are amateurs or newbies who use AI to find vulnerabilities. In some submissions, there is actually no vulnerability, but it was just hallucinated.
Researchers are able to request an increase to ensure that the security team at Apple will not miss an important vulnerability. Apple has been overwhelmed with AI because humans are mainly used to scout the reports, but they have used AI for the submissions. AI has also assisted Apple in finding many bugs.
The Apple Bug Bounty Program offers an up to $2 million reward for exploit chains that are used for real-world and complex attacks, with bonuses that can amount to $5 million.
