Music streaming service company Spotify announced today that they will be extending the promotional period on their free trial to 3 months. Previously, Spotify only gives a month of Premium, then makes the user consider paying the monthly charge when it expires.

Whether it’s matching Apple Music’s free trial period length or not, we can’t say. Spotify posted on their blog that the offer isn’t a ‘limited time’ event and should remain until a new promotion replaces it. Spotify users should be able to take advantage of the free trial, even those under Student or Individual plan packages immediately.

Apple offers a 3-month trial for free on their Apple Music service. In some cases, the company has offered extensions to get their users to subscribe to a paid plan.

The free 3 months of Premium Spotify is open only for new subscribers. If you’ve already subscribed to Premium before, you’re out of luck. The announcement is available to view on Spotify’s blog.
