The Energizer Power Max P18K is touted as the “world’s longest-lasting smartphone”.
On paper, the 18,000 mAh battery sounds like a winner. Avenir Telecom, the brains behind the concept, claims that the Power Max Pop could provide two days’ worth of watching videos, a hundred hours’ worth of music and up to 90 hours’ worth of calls. Technically, it could be a power bank that’s still within the boundaries of what constitutes a “portable device”.
Unfortunately, it’s almost an inch in thickness and that may have been its downfall.
The Energizer-branded smartphone had an Indiegogo goal of $1.2 million, but the backing numbers fell short. Only 11 investors pledged in the campaign, which racked up a grand total of $15,005.
Currently, the project is in limbo, and Avenir Telecom hasn’t released any news as to what they’ll be doing next. Phones with huge batteries have definitely captured the public’s attention, but they don’t want to carry an inch-thick brick either.
