Facebook and Instagram Goes Down Worldwide

Facebook and Instagram down

Facebook and Instagram has gone down worldwide, and no one really knows why. Whether facebook is down for maintenance, we are unsure, but users have been complaining all over the web that neither Facebook nor Instagram is allowing them to login. Instead, they were greeted with an error message letting them know that they couldn’t connect.

Facebook’s error message states “Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes.”

According to Facebook, here is what the error means:

This usually means we’re making an improvement to the database your account is stored on. While this process won’t affect your account, you temporarily won’t be able to access the site.
Keep in mind, we don’t do site maintenance on all accounts at the same time. It’s possible that your friends will be able to access the site while your account is still unavailable.

Instagram is a lot more vague with their error and simply gives a bland message stating “we couldn’t connect” and to just try again later.

Instagram down

It is still yet unclear why two of biggest social media networks have just gone down out of the blue. However, most are speculating that it could just be server maintenance. However, the fact remains that this is the first time both social media networks have gone down at the same time. For a company as big as Facebook, downtime is normally never an issue, but it is interesting to see how quickly they’re going to deal with this.

Users already logged in on Facebook are able to scroll through their newsfeed, but many functionalities like updating status, uploading files or even messaging aren’t functioning properly.

Many users simply took to Twitter to vent their frustrations:

Facebook is down, Instagram is down, yet Twitter is the only one staying strong & always having our backs 👊🏻😂 #Facebook

We will update this article, as soon as we receive any updates regarding the issue.
