Apple CEO Tim Cook has been declared the winner of the “Champion Award” by GLSEN, an entity dedicated to promoting inclusive and safe K-12 environments for LGBTQ youth.
The organization will present the award to Cook at the Los Angeles Beverly Wilshire hotel on October 25th, 2019 for his commitment to protecting LGBTQ rights.
Since Tim took the helm from Steve Jobs, the CEO has been actively pushing for diversity and inclusion. On the Apple website, there’s a text that upholds this value, with a motto that says Apple is creating products for everyone and believes in including everyone.
Cook was also given a distinctive award in 2017- the Free Expression Award, due to his role in establishing public positions on topics such as LGBTQ rights and privacy. In 2015, the Apple CEO has also won the Human Rights Campaign due to his calling out of controversial legislation that has affected LGBTQ rights.
