Apple’s promise that the HomePod will be sold in Japan is coming to fruition. The company announced in a press release that the voice-activated smart speaker will be available to buy starting August 23.
Pre-orders for the device are already online at 32,800 yen. Consumers can get the space gray or white variant depending on their preference. Noteworthy specs include an A8 chip, Siri support, and high-quality audio speakers.
HomePods first appeared in the US in 2017 and has expanded to other countries, including Canada, France, and Germany. It’s set to get new features with the advent of iOS 13. Some notable additions include Handoff support, which allows you to auto-switch playback from the iPhone to your HomePod, an updated setup procedure and the ability to play radio stations.
