A leaked image of a prototype HomePod sporting an LCD touchscreen display has been shown online.
X leaker ‘KosutamiSan’ posted on the social media platform recently and shared an image of what was supposed to be a prototype HomePod. The item had a bigger dome and within it, a text that reads ‘LcdUTest’ which hinted that it was a display. A prior image showed a HomePod frame shell with a different glass material, which was probably meant to be a touchscreen. KosutamiSan said that the design is ‘similar to a 2nd generation HomePod.’
The image went live on X and was verified as real. In addition, the publication 9to5mac offered several more details, including the codename ‘B720’. The leaker mentioned that the item was being worked on and was possibly a new product than a prototype that was discontinued.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in 2023 that Apple might be working on a new HomePod with an LCD display.
