Apple will release an updated 12.9” iPad Pro with Mini LED display technology, according to a new report by DigiTimes. The information has also been reported by Bloomberg’s noted Apple reporter Mark Gurman. It was previously reported by sources such as the notorious leakster Jon Prosser on Twitter that the new iPad Pro models would be released in the month of March. However, all the new reports suggest an April launch for the updated iPad Pro models.
According to the report by DigiTimes, the 12.9” iPad Pro with Mini LED display technology is not yet ready for launch. However, the report also adds that by April, Apple will unveil the device and might also be able to successfully have many units manufactured and assembled. This year, only the 12.9” iPad Pro will reportedly be updated to use a Mini LED display. The 11” iPad Pro will also be updated with newer internals but it will reportedly continue to use the traditional LCD display technology.
Epistar has become the exclusive supplier of mini-LED chips to be used in 12.9-inch miniLED-backlit iPad Pro, with nearly 50% of the corresponding production capacity booked up for the tablet and volume shipments to begin in the second quarter of 2021, the sources said.
An Apple event is likely to be held in the month of April, as reported by both DigiTimes and Bloomberg. The company will likely livestream an event – a mere recording – to showcase their new iPad products and some other rumoured products for the year 2021. Of course, the company will not release all of its products for this year at its April event. The company is expected to release the updated iPad Pro models, the long rumoured AirTags, and also possibly an updated Apple TV.
The Apple event will very likely be live-streamed for everyone to watch.
