Apple has released an internal memo that some of the 2018 MacBook Air models have faulty logic boards, and as such will be recalled and repaired free of charge.
An email will be sent to affected customers, telling them that their 2018 units are eligible for a replacement process. As to the symptoms or details, the Cupertino-based firm did not disclose any.
The owners of affected 2018 notebooks can schedule an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider appointment. The on-site technician can input the serial number and the system may prompt them to replace the logic board. Furthermore, the owner will be charged if the MacBook Air is damaged and the technician is unable to carry out the replacement without making extra repairs.
The memo specified that only a small number of MacBook Air 2018 were affected. Since the report isn’t made public, there’s no guarantee that all company employees will be able to confirm the policy.
