TikTok, video sharing app that’s “powered by music”, is still the most downloaded app on the iOS App Store for five quarters in a row.

Sensor Tower’s report states that the app was downloaded more than 33 million times in the first quarter, followed by #2 YouTube, #3 Instagram, #4 WhatsApp and #5 Messenger.

On the Android side, things look a bit different. The #1 app was WhatsApp at 199 million downloads, followed by #2 Messenger, #3 TikTok, #4 Facebook and then #5 Instagram.

TikTok has been a controversial app, first getting a $5.7 million fine by the FTC, then getting banned for having illegal content.

With both app platforms combined, WhatsApp stands as the clear winner with Messenger standing in as a close second.

Meanwhile, TikTok gets #3 position with Instagram and Facebook right behind. Notable up and comers include YouTube Kids, who joined YouTube Music and YouTube in the top 20 list.
