AMBER actually means “America’s Missing Broadcasting Emergency Response” that sends you all kinds of emergency alerts from the government. These alerts are sent in a form of a notification just like you would receive a message on iMessage or from Calendar regarding an event.
Thanks to Apple, the government can alert iPhone users whenever a natural disaster is about to happen or whenever there is any kind of state of emergency. With AMBER enabled, it can prevent people from getting injured and save people in a countrywide emergency situation.
Since this feature is so important, Apple has allowed AMBER alerts to bypass “Do Not Disturb” settings in order for it to reach the user for safety.
If you don’t care about your life and your family, here’s how to turn off AMBER alerts on iPhone
- Go to “Settings”.
- Tap “Notifications”.
- Scroll down to “Government Alerts” section.
- Toggle “AMBER Alerts” to turn it off.
